The silver AK120 II Portable High Definition Sound System from Astell & Kern is a pocket-sized audio system capable of studio Mastering Quality Sound (MQS) support and playback. As a high-definition digital music format, MQS delivers distortion-free sound without data loss by operating at 24-bits and sampling at a rate from 96 to 192 kHz. MQS sources are commonly saved as a lossless 24-bit WAV or FLAC files during mastering. The AK120 II also supports 5.6 MHz DSD playback by converting/downsampling to 176 kHz PCM.
The AK120 II has an integrated dual-channel Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC and balanced output to provide exceptional sonic quality and detail. It can also be used as an external DAC when connected to a Mac or Windows computer via USB. Additional DAC support for CD player or another digital device via optical DAC.
The 3.3" AMOLED touchscreen provides smartphone-style control over playback, while the brushed aluminum body and volume wheel provide a smooth analog feel. The built-in battery recharges via USB and lasts for up to 12 hours of playback. The AK120 II ships with a protective case and micro-USB cable.
